Circa 2019, when Resili took to the streets to raise awareness about family caregiver mental health during Bell Let’s Talk day.

On behalf of myself and the whole team at Resili, I want to thank each person reading this for having faith in us to change the world of mental healthcare, and supporting us on the journey! It was an honour and a privilege to contribute to such an important challenge facing our communities, and your support, big or small, was part of what empowered us to do this work. With your help, we were able to support over 1 million Canadians and Americans with their mental health and mental strength!

After much reflection, we have come to the decision to close Supports Health Inc. and the Resili App. While we have accomplished more than we could have ever dreamed of when we started, we also were unable to continue to sustainably fulfill our mission to democratize access to good mental health for every Canadian and American. Apart from extreme gratitude to everyone (including you!) who made it possible to advance this mission, we are also encouraged by the many leaders who have adopted our mission of democratizing access since we set out on it. Since publicly announcing this mission in 2019, we have seen companies like MindBeacon join us by launching free programs like Stronger Minds; charities like CMHA and Jack.org continue to inspire as they build out and bolster resources like BounceBack and BeThere respectively; and new startups and innovators emerging to advance this mission literally every day.

To our customers and other partners, thank you for entrusting us with something as important as the mental strength of your communities, whether it be through the Resili App, Resili Workshops, or our newest product, the Resili Report. One would typically assume that any company that cares enough about mental health to work with us would be a pretty great one. Universally, our experience working with each of you proved that to be true. It’s heartening to know that there are many great leaders prioritizing mental health within their communities. Spoiler alert, I’ll also still be around to support you in any way you need (see below).

To our advisors and community of champions, thank you for believing in us. It takes a village when tackling such a multifaceted problem, and Resili was surrounded by many of the best. From top class accelerators like Next Canada, the Biomedical Zone, TechAlliance, Ontario Brain Institute, and Ivey Entrepreneurship, to some of the smartest and most compassionate advisors (you know who you are), we were truly blessed to have such great support in tackling the complex challenge of democratizing access to good mental health for every Canadian and American.

To VERGE Capital, our lead venture funder, thank you for not just your capital, but your continued advice, support and leadership in social enterprise and impact accountability. You empowered us to do the great work that we did and pushed us to be much more deliberate in and accountable for the way in which we drove that impact.

Moving forward, all current Resili App users have received an email explaining the shutdown, supporting them in finding other mental health resources (including counselling), and giving them the opportunity to connect with our team for additional support in the transition.

In the coming weeks, we will be publishing our Impact Report which will document all of the impact Supports Health Inc has created to date, stay tuned!

While I will no longer be running Resili, I will still be working tirelessly in the space of mental health research, consulting, and innovation, and as always, would be grateful to connect!
